Blessed to be a Mama!

Mya is 4.5 months old. Started feeding her rice cereal on and off from 3.5months. Just last night introduced Sweet Potatoes to her per docs suggestion. Just wondering - should I just feed her at night, the rice cereal and sweet potatoes? Or should I also give her rice cereal in the morning? I've just heard so many different opinions, I dont know what to do!! Any further suggestions would be great! Thank you!

It doesn't matter.

It makes sense to introduce a new food in the morning. If baby has a bad reaction, you don't want to be up all night.

Once you know she tolerates the food, you can offer at anytime -- just be sure to keep the amounts VERY small (4 1/2 months is still very early for solids) and offer after a regular bottle, so she doesn't cut back on her milk intake.

If you must do solids this early, you might do cereal one day, and veggies the next. Or a teaspoon of each at one meal -- but you'll be throwing out a lot of sweet potatoes that way. One very-smal-meal of solids is MORE than ample for a 4 month old.

With my daughter I started her on the cereal mixed with breastmilk just in the mornings until her belly got used to digesting it. If I fed it to her at night she would be very gassy and not sleep very well. When it came time to introduce fruits and vegies I put some of the fruit/veggie in a bowl and mixed and little cereal in. Basically the rice cereal is just a filler. It is up to you and your baby. I would do it in the morning (that way if she has a allergic reaction to it you can catch it during the day). But watch your baby's cues. if she needs more she will let you know. If not she wont take it. Just remember she is just learning so go slow. Whatever you choose to do will be just fine.

You should continue to feed her rice cereal in the morning. Then in the early evening, give her sweet potatoes. To much rice cereal is not good at this time.

I think she is a bit too young for two doses of rice cereal, it can be binding to their system. Maybe more of the sweet potato to get her used to the spoon, or move onto another veggie for the am feed. new foods are best to give early in the day to make sure there are no reactions.

you mostly initiate feeding with rice cereal, however the timing is thoroughly as much as you. infants can stay to tell the tale breast milk or formulation for the 1st 12 months and get each and all the nutrition that they want. usually you wait till around 5 months previous previously you introduce nutrition. you start up off putting a splash rice cereal in a bottle mixed with breast milk or formulation, and then finally the place you may spoon feed. they do no longer want the degree one till they're waiting for greater tastes. Plus you will save a good number of money by using no longer commencing nutrition so early and purely breast feeding.

When i first started my son on solids i did the cereal once in the morning and then he got a fruit or veggie in the evening until he seemed like he wanted more so i would just do one and one for right now because more than likely she will not even eat both very much if you do offer both but thats your decision as a mother if you want to do both then go ahead and see how she does!!

I don't think it makes any difference when you feed her.
