He has been on solids since four months (on the advice of a health visitor.) At 7 months we tried him on the stage 2 slightly lumpier food but he won't eat them and just spits all the lumps out. I've tried mixing it with the smoother food but he refuses to eat it so i stopped and went back to the smooth food. What shall i do? Leave another few weeks and try again or should he be eating lumpier food by now? Thanks for your comments no nasty answers please

My 8 month old wont even eat baby food yet. We've tried several times, he just doesn't want it, would rather his milk. They really don't even have to eat food befor the age of one. Your son might have a texture problem, my 3 yr old was like that and is still like this to this day. Just don't push it, and remember that they really don't need anything till a year then he can start with table foods...good luck :)

My 13 month old hates lumpy foods! He's supposed to be chewing by now but still spits lumps out.

Just be patient. It takes some babies longer than others to get the hang of lumps (ie: mine!).

Leave it a few weeks and try again. Try mashed potato, you can make it to any consistency, so can leave it a little lumpier each time. Mashed potato is one of the few thicker textured foods my son will eat!

O wouldnt leave it another whole month. Try a week and if he still refuses then another week. Eventually he will enjoy it more than the smooth but it will just take a little time. I started weaning at 6 months so my daughter was only on stage 1 for a couple of weeks before i moved her up. She was fussy to begin with but now she loves it!

my daughter is 7 months & ive just tried her 2day with lumpier food. she was trying 2 be sick but done ok. you have plenty of time with him so just take it slow. i would start 2 give him him it now & again. as long as he's eating & healthy it doesnt matter. he'll *** round when he's ready. why dont you try 2 give him other things like cucumber 2 suck on or a rusk so he can feel different textures in his mouth. hope it helps xx

All babies develop their tastes with foods at different stages.

He doesn't want lumpier food yet, introduce him to them another time. He will get the hang of it when he is ready.

These health visitors just read texts out of a book, all babies are different.

Don't worry him with it yet.

mush the lumps up with your fork, he won't eat then until he gets used to the texture. Stage 2 food is alot different to stage 1 food.

If he's eating finger food them let him try and feed himself. I'm a mum of 3 and i've really by-passed the stage 2 food and gone to finger food and self feeding - ok its mess but they eat and have fun at the same time.

all my 3 eat well and are healthy

my little girl is 8 months old and i give her bits of toast to chew on and biscuits digestives and let her eat her food when we are all eating i give her little home made chips and vegetables to eat they just need to get used to eating lumpier food remember if you were made to eat smoothies all your life and then you were given a packet of crisps it would freak you out they do it when they are ready there is no time limit they let you know when they are ready for it your doing well dont get disheartened they all do different things at different times my little boy was talking at 7 months saying lots of words my little girl only says dad dad dad dad to everything good luck and he will let you know

I personally would leave it for another 4 weeks or so and try again, he will eat it lumpy when he's good and ready, both mine were about 8 months before they ate anything lumpy

He is probably just big on texture. I know that I don't like slimy food and I am almost 35! Just give him what he likes and every once in a while try to slip in chunkier stuff.

I kinda have to deal with this, my 5 month old has trouble with the liquified food. All i can say is patience.

If he/she isnt ready , dont force it, new textures can scare the baby at first.

my daughter was the same. she wudnt eat it even if it was sweet. so wat i done was give her finger foods it took about a week or 2 for her to feed her self but she did and now at 1 she feeds her self never gave her lumpy food on a spoon.its up to you wat you do. you could try organix carrots sticks they r like cheese puffs but carrot. they r for babies 7 months and over. you can get them in the baby section. good luck

wait until he's ready,if he' happy and content to have the smooth stuff ,then carry on,as long as he is putting on weight .then no problem, all children have their own body clock, none the same.

He didn't like the feeling of it. It's okay just wait and try again later.
