Question:
Baby teeth growing in crooked?

My 14 month old daughter has 4 teeth on top and two on bottom. She didn't even get her first tooth (which was actually her bottom two teeth at the same time) until 11 and a half months!

Anyway - my question is... they seem to be growing in crooked! I have never seen a toddler or child with crooked baby teeth.. and a friend even made a comment the other day about how crooked they were and it kind of hurt my feelings. Her father and I both had crooked teeth as teenagers and wore braces for years! Are her baby teeth going to really come in crooked, or will they straighten out? Is it a genetic thing? Thanks for answering, hope some of my contacts have stayed with me...I haven't used this in so long!

As a hygienist, I get this question a lot at work. Baby teeth often come in crooked, sometimes even tipped inward. They tend to straighten out as the rest of the teeth come in, and the tongue pushes them into alignment.

Even if they stay crooked, baby teeth are only the place holders for permanent teeth. Their positioning doesn't dictate the way the adult teeth will look (however, if there is no spacing between baby teeth, that won't allow enough room for the permanent teeth - which are usually twice the size - and can cause crowding. That's not something to worry about until your child is around 9 years old, since there will be lots of jaw growth between now and then!)

It sounds like her teeth are coming in the correct order, and "late" teeth tend to be stronger, since they've had more time to develop. So I wouldn't worry at all right now. Your friend sounds like a jerk to make you feel bad :)

My son's has 6 teeth too, 4 on the top 2 on the bottom. His bottom teeth came in at 7 months and they were crooked. I was concerned and so I asked his doctor about it. She said that baby teeth sometimes come in crooked and will eventually straighten out. He's 14 months now and his bottom teeth are straight. His 4 top teeth came in at 11 months and are still a little crooked. I'm going to give them a little more time to straighten out before I flip and call a dentist.

If you are really concerned ask her doctor at the next appointment.

My baby is of 10month she has one teeth in bootom that seems little bit crooked.

I have doubt that her teeth crooked because she drink water/any liquid from the steel glass.

Is that one resposible for her crooked teeth.
