Like I said I'm 6 weeks pp, I gained 28lbs during pregnancy and I have lost 23lbs of it, but I still look 5 months pregnant!? The top part of my belly is hard and it protrudes out...is this normal? When with it start to flatten out? Tell me your story please. I feel so gross, plus how long after delivery did you still wear maternity pants?? I still wear mine as a comfort for some reason...

it may be skin, or your belly is still debloating, the skin has to get extra thick to support a baby so the skin needs time to shrink and get thinner. skin takes a while to change (im talking epidermis, your whole skin like when you grab your skin it chunks)

Honestly, I literally didn't look pregnant within a week of delivering her, and right after I had her if i was laying down my stomach was completely flat. I was very very thin before hand, only gained about 27 pounds, and was all belly. I know there are some people who will never lose that baby weight, though. I'm not sure the whole hard protruding thing is normal but i would just ask the doc. youve gotta have a pp check up soon. it also could be your rib cage. i know that mine got a little bigger as did my hips.

When you're pregnant, your muscles stretch a hell of a lot. Unfortunately, most peoples muscles don't "ping" back as quickly as we'd like.

It took 9 months to get that big... expect it to take at least 9 months to go back down!

I think after about 5-6 months my tummy started to look better. I still wore maternity pants for months... and still have a couple of favourite pairs! Mainly because I'd thrown out all my pre-maternity clothes convinced they'd never fit again, and I was too scared to go shopping and find out what size I'd gone up to!

Every woman is different and will "deflate" at different rates. However waiting 6 weeks prior to exercising that part of the body is/was good. Even light abdominal exercises can cause tearing or bleeding that is very unsafe if done prior to atleast 6 weeks. But after that light to moderate exercises are great for you. babycentral.com has some information about PP and losing weight etc afterwards. I dink around on there from time to time when I get my weekly emails =p

it's normal. I'm 9 months post-partum and I still look kinda pregnant. I've had two babies and two c-sections. if you had a c, my doc says the tummy never flattens out completely. sorry.

your uterus is still not all the way back to the size it was, and just hope you aren't all squishy by the end. moisturize your tummy so that your skin can heal and shrink up easier, but you are gonna look a little fat, I'm not gonna lie. it comes with the miracle of birth, unless you're one of those skinny freaks (I know some) that never look fat no matter how many babies they have. I hate those people. sounds like you're not one. just be happy you have a lovely baby. and 28 pounds is NOT a lot to gain. I gained... well, we won't go there.

I think I wore sweatpants for like... three months or something.

Well, consider this: it took nine months for you to look that pregnant, it's going to take longer than six weeks to get back to where you were (or closer to it). Muscles are stretched and damaged and they take time to heal, doing cardio and toning exercises can help and make sure you are staying hydrated and eating healthily. I would recommend going shopping for just a few pairs of regular pants that will make you feel more "normal". We finally had to force my sister to do that because she was feeling so bad about her body after having her daughter. Even just comfy sweat pants bought off the regular rack can help.

It took 9 months for you body to change it is going to take some time before it gets back to normal. Yes, many keep wearing their maternity clothes for a few months. If you want your belly to get back to normal you need to be watching what you eat and getting plenty of exercise. Those ab muscles literally got pulled apart, you need to work to get them put back together.

Congrats on the boy!

exercise wear a girdle it help your stomach stay down. Breast feeding helps a lot it contracts the muscles and tightens your stomach. Congrats :)

It is normal and you will have to watch what you eat and exercise to get rid of it.
