read this and tell me what you think. i have mixed feelings about it.. seeing as he could have just had formula, you never know how healthy these ladies are.. formula will not kill you, infact the majority of babies get formula at some point in their life.. please no rude comments, i just want to see others oppinions.

Rather Bizarre! Did the dad have no idea that they sold formula? Instead of getting complete strangers to feed his son

I can understand if he wanted to go through the family friend

I guess it just goes to show what lengths people will go through to steer clear of the formula "poison" (as some people call it)which to me is better then nothing

I guess if everyone goes home happy at the end of the day then it's alright...I wonder how a women in that circle will be judged if she wanted to stop nursing him

Honestly, I probably wouldn't have done it, but I don't see anything wrong with it. In fact, in olden days many children were fed through "nurses". And we all survived so...it can't be too bad. Plus, I'm sure they checked the health of the woman before they did it. Honestly, not a lot of meds etc go through to breastmilk...people worry a lot more than they should. AND breast milk is tailor made for a baby and much healthier than formula. So I say, they should go for it if they feel its right. (Though I nursed my daughter for 3 months and now she is on formula. =). )

Formula is ok, but I would prefer the best as opposed to just ok for my baby. And, for me, since I have milk allergies and possibly so could my baby, she WILL NOT get formula at any point in her life, and I know many breastfeed babies who never receive formula.

If something happened to me, I would hope my husband would do the same for our child.

I'd rather have her have breast milk from someone else than artificial formula that is better suited for baby cows than baby humans.

But opinions as to formula or breastmilk aside, that is a beautiful story.

That is amazing! Were I asked, I would do the same. I have a freezer full of milk that may go to waste before our baby uses it all...

Our babies don't get formula. I work full-time. I don't know what is in it precisely and our oldest son had a horrible time. The FDA has made claims that have made my husband and I uneasy. Likewise, this dad seems to know that nothing is better than breastmilk.

I think he is an amazing daddy.

I think it's terrific. Yeah, he could have given formula but in a way it's honoring his wife's wishes (from what the article said anyway) and breast milk is the more nutritious option. Kudos to the women who stepped in, for sure.
I can eat in public too!

I would do that in a heartbeat if someone asked me to. I like how they said it's an act of love - so true. nursing my own baby is amazing and I'd nurse another for sure.

Wow, that man is an awesome Dad. Who now knows some awesome Moms.

Formula will probably give you a healthy baby, sure. But it also raises the odds that baby will be sick, will be hospitalized, will die. The odds are on your side, but why take the risks if you don't have to?

But forget the formula whatever. That's a beautiful story.

I think it is great. He lost his mother....even a baby understands that. I am sure he feels the love these women are giving him.....it is really wonderful.
