Okay, straight to it. My son was born prem by 3 weeks, he now is demanding a feed (twice his amount - which is 140 mls) every 2 and a half hours, He is on formula. He suffers really bad wind that is hard to bring up, he only poos like once every 3-4 days.Ive tried adding water in between, but he brings that back up, he farts a fair bit, hiccups, and not enough sleep when he used to settle himself.. But that doesnt help as much as i wish it could. Is it just because he is a hungry baby? Or do you think there is sumthin else up?

He could be just hungry I would just feed him what he wants. He knows how much he needs to be happy. You may want to just talk to his doctor just to make sure that everything is ok. It never hurts to give them a call and that will make you feel alot better because his doctor is the only person that can really tell you everyone is just guessing or telling you their opinions.

what you can try is switching his formula.. there is a kind for hungry babies.. just look where you get your formula now... the can will say for hungry babies... as for the gas gripe water or gas drops work well.... as for pooping 3 or 4 days... it could be the iron in the formula your baby has now..... iron usually binds them up.. i know it did with mine.... and i would also like to add.. i really hate it when a person asks a question and people always say breastfeeding is the best to get rid of it.... you chose to formula feed for a reason you probably dont want to start breastfeeding now..... i know breast is best but if you dont breastfeed you shouldnt be bonbarded for not doing it....

Have you ever heard of 6 week colic ? It occurs in babies at around that age. It is frustrating, because you keep thinking that you are doing something wrong ! It does last that long - you just have to be patient. Another possibility is that he has an intolerance to an ingredient in the formula. hope you find a solution soon for both you and bub.

babys will be gassy but to help minimize gas try burping every ounce. hiccups are normal and is not gas so wont cause any pain. for not pooing every 3-4 days is not healthy. what you can try is switching his formula to something easier to digest. when babies are gassy and have stomach pains they act like they want to eat but they will still be fussy. lay your bubs down on his back and push his legs up one at a time or both at a time. this helps releave gas also. my 8 week old does pass gas but normally when she is about to poo. while feeding when she has to burp she will get wiggley and fussy. these are signs of gas too.

prolly acid reflux my baby was born premature and has same issues he has acid reflux but we did not put him on meds. we switched to A.R. formula and give him 1 tsp of karo syrup in 1 oz of water. also more feeding more often. I feed my son 3 oz every 3 hours...even though he would rather feed 4 oz. ALSO the reason A.R. babies eat sooo much ids because they are trying to calm their lil tummies by eating more, but this will only make symptoms worse.

you should take him to the doctor, and ask if it might be the type of formula that you are using. there are many kinds, so you might just need a different one. hope this helps. good luck.
