Question:
Best infant carseat/carrier?

I am looking for a new infant carrier before I'm even pregnant because I want the best fit for me. With my daughter we had a Graco SafeSeat and it was way too heavy! I also had the stroller but we decided a jogging stroller would better suit us so I sold both the seat and stroller once she out grew the seat.

So now I'm looking for a carseat with base(s) that is easy to use, install and adjust. It also has to be light and narrow since we will need to fit 3 carseats in the back of my car...a Grand Prix. I also want a comfortable handle. Some of the ones I've seen have a handle that is smooth on the front side but on the back it's open/hollow and that hurts my arm. I usually just loop my arm through the side of handle instead of using the actual handle spot on top.

I want a carrier to hook in the car and lift out each time to start with instead of a stationary seat. Once the baby begins sitting up we may change to a rear-facing carseat that stays in the car since s/he will be able to sit in carts, highchairs etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me this time around?

I have 2 month old triplets, and we have 3 Mico carseats from Maxi-Cosi (Quinny). Here is the link for the one we have : http://www.maxi-cosi.com/maxicosi/productindex.aspx?id=14&language=us-en

We got 3 different colours. We bought ours in the Netherlands when visiting my parents in law, and they shipped it to LA.

We ordered a special triplet stroller, and we recieved plenty in advanced, and they fit perfectly.

The carset came with the base, and a sunshade. We bought bug protectors mostly for touchy hands from strangers.

We also bought 3 single quinny strollers, which work very well also (We are in the netherlands again, and my sister and her husband are travelling with us, and the airline does not accept the triplet stroller for gate check, so we shipped it in advanced, then we all pushed a stroller, and had one adult left over).

So...your not preggo yet? Sounds like your a planner like myself lol. I'm looking for future baby products to purchase as well(this will be #3 for us too, hoping to get pregnant this month!) and I worry about size with our 2nd vehicle which is a Taurus. From what I have seen Combi is very lightweight and much smaller than the Gracos. We almost got a combi with our last daughter but ended up getting a graco travel system for girly color purposes (which I regret now looking back).

Baby Trend looks just as heavy and bulky as Graco. Evenflo appears to be more narrow and lighter though I'm not sure on the quality of Evenflo???

I would still have to suggest the Combi seats for being the most lightweight and size effective. I am looking at the Peg Perego and that does look smaller as well, though I have never seen one I wonder if anyone has ? They are too pricey for me though ;)

I have a 10 day old baby, and we bought her the graco snugride in the maria print. It is not heavy, and we bought the set that comes with seat, base, and stroller. I love it the the actual carseat snaps right into the stroller, I take it everywhere. Give is a try, Graco is a great brand, looks, price and safety wise.

the base on the baby trend is the slimmest, bit the seat isn't. the chicco keyfit is the slimmest all around and gets rave reviews. its lighter than the safeseat but holds the same weight.
