Hello :)
I sing row row row your boat and my daughter is 9 months old and she will rock back and fourth when you sing it, I sing itsy bitsy spider, and I sing just random songs that come on the TV.. anything that pops in my mind I will sing to her... haha I take her in my arms and dance with her as well... and when her brother is home from school we will all dance together. I just love seeing the smile on their faces when we dance! :)

I don't have children but I am a nanny to severel children and I sing to them all the time. I sing "whirlwind" by burning codes, "The Call" by Regina Spektor or "The egg song" from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to calm them to sleep.
To cheer them, I use current songs that are cool. Toddlers love catchy song. "I gotta feeling" by The Black Eyed peas works like a charm and so does "Umbrella" by Rihanna.
I also sing along to the Sweeney Todd soundtrack and they LOVE that. I know the movie is very inappropriate but the song are really cool. "By the Sea" is their favourite.
Hope this helped. :-)

I make up songs to sing to my toddler. I made up a music to the track of the oscar meyer wiener track. Haha. I start up making a music it, and then I start up giggling, and my toddler sees and hears me giggling so he starts off to smile. yet I additionally only sing songs that are on the radio, and my prominent songs too. i do no longer think of he cares what i'm making a music, as long as he's getting interest from me. Oh he's that one in all those mommy's boy. and that i like each little bit of it!

I don't sing kid songs really - Sometimes I've tried but he doesn't seem to prefer them. LOL I sing all the time, but they're songs that I sang while pregnant - stuff on the radio, cd's, etc...I figure he heard them for 9 months, why not keep it up? :) Honestly I think ANY vocal interaction with you & your baby is healthy and wonderful!

John Mayer...Don't know what it's called but the "Who says I can't get stoned" one...she loves the melody for some reason
and Jack Johnson Better Together. Somehow it just became "our song"

my 6 month old loves "if your happy and you know it" and "heads, shoulders, knees and toes"and to put her sleep, i would sing "hush little baby" or sometimes i would just sing a regular song that i liked and would sing it at a low tone..i would also "slow dance" while singing lightly to get her to sleep
