My wife and I are completely lost as to which way we should go. Do we buy a travel system or all the components separately? We would love to find a travel system that the car seat can be used up to 40 pounds but have yet to find one because babys r us and Target websites are very unclear on most of them. We have even found one travel system that we liked and Target's site said it would go to 40 pounds on the car seat but babys r us didn't. We then found that on the manufacture website, it does not support 40 pounds.

So here are my questions: Travel systems or individual components? And, do you know of any travel systems that have a car seat that will go up to 40 pounds. Thanks

SEPARATE!! The strollers that come with travel systems are inferior to those that are sold separately. Go to a store like Babies R Us or Target, and you will be able to look at floor samples and compare the quality of the strollers.

The car seats are the same. But remember an infant car seat lasts most people on average 6-9 months (baby gets too big for an infant seat after that). The stroller, on the other hand, will be used for many years. Just because a travel system seems cheaper or matches is not a reason to sacrifice quality. A good stroller can last until your child is old enough to not need to be pushed in a stroller.

A good stroller-The Graco Quatro Tour Deluxe. It is solidly built and maneuvers better than any other stroller I've tried. Plus you can just snap a car seat into it just like the stroller that comes with the travel system.

I have the chicco key fit 30 with the cortina stroller and I've been really happy. Especially in cold weather, it's so nice to be able to quickly transfer the baby from the car to the stroller. It also forms a nice little capsule to keep the baby out of the wind, rain or sun.

I am a bit disappointed with the quality of the stroller (a wheel is rubbing and it's like have a bum shopping cart all of the time!). However, the convience of the stroller and car seat is well worth it.

We will be buying another (higher quality) stroller as soon as we are expecting out second child that can accomodate two kids.

I still carry my 10 month old in the carrier. Yes, he sometimes gets heavy. But, your arm will get stronger as your baby gets heavier.

For me, the infant carrier was a necessity for trips to the grocery store and other errands.

I don't know any car seats that go up to 40 pounds . . . . probably because an infant has such different safety requirement than a toddler. At 36 months a 40 pound toddler is at the 95th weight percentile.

I personally do not know of a travel system that goes up to 40lb with a car seat. And I think a car seat that goes to 40lb would be a little bit of a hassle to take from the car and place on the stroller when they reach the higher weights.

I know my daughter is 6 months and 17lb and we are just starting to pull her out of the seat more often rather than lug it in and out of the truck. A stroller may not be able to handle 40lb plus the seat and its size. We have a jogger travel system that we really like that the car seat snaps into but it only goes to 25lb. We get great use out of it, and once she gets too big for the seat we'll just stick her in the stroller itself.

I like the convenience of snapping the seat into the stroller when we use it, so I would suggest the system. But if you really want a convertible seat you should go separate. We will just buy a larger seat when she starts getting too big for this one.

Good luck!

I rather have the chicco key extra healthful 30 with the cortina stroller and that i've got been rather chuffed. enormously in chilly climate, it is so amazing to be waiting to rapidly flow the toddler from the vehicle to the stroller. It additionally varieties a amazing little pill to maintain the toddler out of the wind, rain or solar. i'm somewhat disenchanted with the huge-unfold of the stroller (a wheel is rubbing and it rather is like have a bum procuring cart for all time!). regardless of the shown fact that, the convience of the stroller and automobile seat is rather well worth it. we are able to be paying for yet another (greater high quality) stroller as quickly as we are watching for out 2d toddler that could accomodate 2 childrens. I nonetheless carry my 10 month old contained in the provider. sure, he from time to time gets heavy. yet, your arm gets stronger as your toddler gets heavier. For me, the toddler provider became right into a necessity for journeys to the food market and different errands. i do no longer understand any automobile seats that go as much as 40 pounds . . . . in all probability because of the fact an toddler has such diverse protection requirement than a toddler. At 36 months a 40 pound toddler is on the ninety fifth weight percentile.

If I could go back in time I would buy them separately. Mainly because it would have saved me about $200.

I would go ahead and get the convertible car seat for 5-40lbs and a separate stroller.

Only negative is if the baby is sleeping in the car seat, you cant just lift it up and put it in the stroller.

the graco infant safeseat (step 1)

chicco keyfit 30

peg perego viaggio sip 30/30

all go up to 30 pounds... i wish i'd known about these before i got my baby trend infant seat. I would advise against the travel system. get the snap and go stroller, the infant seat/bases, then get a good stroller (not the bulky travel system kind).

I love it! Is the best! You can adjust a car seat in it as well. The best stroller ever.
