My husband and I have been very good about making sure we wash our newborn daughter's hair every second day and she has no trace of cradle cap on her head but she has developed mild case of it on her eyebrows and between her eyes where it is all crusty and yellow in colour...it's only really noticeable if you see her in bright light....The pharmacist recommended that I just put a bit of baby lotion on it but it doesn't seem to be helping...anyone have any advice?

when you put lotion on your baby's face lightly brush a baby comb through her eyebrowns or lightly scrape it with your finger nail between her eyes and eyebrows. You can also put a little bit of baby oil on it to keep it moist. Some baby's get it in and around their ears as well.

Baby lotion will not take care of cradle cap at all. Cradle cap is caused by the hormones from the placenta and it usually starts a few weeks after birth.

You should try some Selsum Blue Shampoo and wash the baby's head every night for at least a week or two until it is gone completely. When you wash the head with the shampoo you gently take some of it and rub it on her forehead and eyebrows and wash it off. Put a Wash cloth over her eyes to cover while you do it just in case. Then take a topical 1% hydrocortizone cream (over the counter) and put it on her eyebrows, a thin layer and masage it in good twice a day. Keep the eye brows clean and dry.

This is what I was told to do for my son and it worked beautifully. Sometimes it can come back after it goes away, but it will eventually dissapear on its own in a few months.

Good Luck and it really works! I am also in Pediatrics and have been for 20 years too. This is what we recommend.

There's isn't anything you can do, besides what was recommended... baby lotion and baby oil. I bought some of the Disney Cradle Cap lotion but it didn't work any different. Cradle cap is very common and goes away eventually. My son got his around 4 weeks and it's going away finally at age 7 weeks. Just keep using lotion and a little baby oil.

Baby lotion and oil do not solve the problem. Cradle cap is a build up of natural oils and dead skin. You might want to get a soft toothbrush and gently brush the areas every time you bathe her, same as you would her scalp. Or just use a washcloth.

if you can keep it out of her eyes, then rub a bit of baby OIL on it and let that sit for a bit and then take a dry washcloth and rub at it a bit and try to get some of it to flake off.

i used the baby oil and a fine toothed comb on my son's cradle cap, but it was on his head....not his forehead/

First clean with a soft wash cloth, and scrub the area. Then use baby oil, rub it in. Put the oil in every time you wash her hair. Use a baby brush after the cradle cap softens, and brush it away. After a few applications and brushing it should go away.

Forget baby oil and shampoo. Switch to natural products and only shampoo when baby's hair needs it. Use natural oils. Dr Sears recommends plain vegetable oil from the kitchen. No fragrances or synthetic ingredients to aggravate the rash. Rub gently with a washcloth to peel the flakes away.

my babies pediatrician said to use a little bit of dandruff shampoo, and a soft toothbrush. Using oil or lotion doesn't help the problem, because that is what cradle cap is, it's a build up of oil on the scalp.

I used to use baby oil but just before bath time, my daughter had it pretty bad on her head and eczema as well! Aquaphor (made by Eucerin) also works very well, you'll notice results overnight!

Baby oil is not meant to CURE cradle cap, its meant to loosen flakes to make them easier to brush away. my son has it on his head so ive been researching cures for weeks. its pretty much trial and error use the oil to loosen flakes, brush away, clean the area, dry, and moisturize. my pedi recommended Eucerin lotion (fragrance/dye-free lotion for super sensitive skin) ...no matter what she may just get it until she gets mommy's hormones out of her system which could be weeks.

My son had it very bad when he was a baby. The best thing that worked for me was a soft baby toothbrush. Rub baby oil on it and softly rub in a circular motion before bath time and in the morning. It really helped!:)

i would suggest aveeno cradle cap kit, it's expensive but it works great. its natural, and it's helps sooth the scalp. just when after you apply it, message her scalp and help get the blood flowing. i used it on my son and before i know it was gone.

Baby oil. And massage her scalp, brush her hair. It will go away, but do stimulate her scalp.
