I just heard on the local news that the Consumer Product Safety Commission is going to announce the biggest crib recall ever! It is going to include ALL cribs with drop down sides!!
Does anybody have anymore info on this?
What happens when your crib is recalled? Are you able to get a new one from the company or is it up to the purchaser?
Thanks

All I found was:

http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/story?section=news/consumer/recalls&id=7129095

http://www.mahalo.com/dropdown-side-crib-recall

Hopefully they can get more info on it soon.

ETA~

In the first link I provided, these are the only types they are naming today:

" This recall involves Stork Craft drop-side cribs and Stork Craft drop-side cribs with the Fisher-Price logo. This recall does not involve any cribs that do not have a drop-side. This recall does not involve any cribs with metal rod drop-side hardware. It involves only those cribs with plastic trigger and one-hand-system drop-side hardware. "

Brand names aren't being announced until tomorrow. The recall is on cribs with one drop-down side. Reason isn't given yet. There have been an estimated 90 deaths and 11,000 injuries associated with drop-side cribs between 2005 and 2008.

for affected cribs they are mailing a repair kit that will make it a fixed side crib, they recomend discontinuing the use of the crib until the repair is made. the contact information is in the press relase from the CSPC below. it has pictures, descriptions of included products and phone numbers.

Check with the cpsc often as the recall may be expanded or even better sign up for the "recall announcement" emails :)

My guess with the drop down crib it has to do with children getting stuck or fingers getting aputated.
