So, I need advice on the best baby carrier. The baby bjorn is giving me back pain after the wearing it the first 10 minutes.
I would like a baby carrier/sling that can face the baby out as well as in...

For mom to be comfortable wearing a carrier:

1) Must be standing perfectly upright, leaning even a bit forwards or backwards will wear you out

2) The straps should be closer to your shoulder bones than your neck ligaments -bones can hold more weight than ligament.

3) Straps should cross in the back below the shoulder blades and the straps should be flat.

For baby to be comfortable and not harmed by the carrier (this is for carrier only, not slings):

Babies legs should be about 90 degrees from each other, and about 90 degrees from the body. There should be fabric under the entire buttocks and if possible upper thighs.

Wraps are an excellent option as they are infinity adjustable. You can make your own no-sew wrap just to see if you like it/what fabrics you like then if the raw edges bug you sew them or buy a replacement commercial wrap http://www.wearyourbaby.com/Default.aspx?tabid=121

I'd recommend a wrap. It distributes the weight evenly and can be worn in many different positions. Here's a website on the different ways you can wear them http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructions.aspx .

I also agree with the last poster its really easy to make your own if you don't want to spend too much on one. Just buy a really long piece of stretchy fabric (enough to wrap around yourself about 4-5 times).

My LO is 12lbs and I find the Snugli comfortable enough, baby can face out when she can hold her head up. I walk with her for about 30+min and I'm not sore :)

I love the Ergo carrier. It is so comfortable and my daughter loves it.
