My little girl scratches her head when she is tried, Its always just above her neck where she scratches, There is absolutly nothing there (Other than the marks from her scratching) theres no cradle cap, nothing.
During the day, I obviously stop her. But she does it in the night whilst sleeping..Ive taken her to the docs and they said there is nothing they can really do other than prescribe cream to soothe the soreness, health visitors said thats she will stop once she hurt herself too much..But she hasnt.

I snip her nails, put cream on her neck and try to make her wear scratch mits in the night, but she takes them off & shoves them in her mouth, which makes me a nervous wreck...

Any ideas of how to stop her?

Yeah my baby does this too. She also pulls her hair. You can buy sleep-suits at mothercare and matalan with built in scratch mitts. They're like cuffs that fold down over her hands. It's almost impossible for them to get out of. My baby is 9 months too.

You can't really. My daughter did the same thing up until she was about 8 months. Only she would scratch at her head, and if I missed a day of clipping her nails, the next morning it would look like she had been in a fight with a cat! I frequently lotioned it but nothing every worked. Eventually though, she just stopped doing it! As long as she isn't hurting herself its ok. And if she scratches enought to draw blood, put some Neosporin on it to make sure it doesnt get infected.

My 7 month old lightly scratches at the top of his head when he is tired. And a couple days ago he started hitting himself in the head when he is fighting falling asleep. I think you just have to let her grow out of it. It must just be her way of soothing herself.

I would simply put a large bandaid there as long as you are able to move the hair out of the way. If the hair is unaviodable, you can put a little of vaseline in so that the hairs won't stick to the bandage.

put some mittens on her hands and let her scratch away you can't stop her you can just prevent her from hurting herself. my daughter does the same. she will eventual stop by herself.
