I would say 1 year then they are to little to notice it is gone.

I think suckers/hard candy are very dangerous for little ones under age 2 (or even older). But, if they do get one at the doctor's office, etc., let them have it and just take it away if they're chewing on it, or when it starts getting too small (about to come off of the stick).

if u are talking about a pacifier, by age two. beyond that they will ruin the teeth. replace the pacifier every couple of months. start weaning during the day only limiting the pacifier to night. my baby is six months and only uses one at bedtime. if u are refering to a hard candy sucker, never give a baby a sucker or hard candy. they can choke on it.

I'm a father of 2 (2 1/2 and 6 mnths) and I've learned from the first that it is best to take it away as early as possible. I did it with my second at 2 mnths, she was too young to know any better and it was a lot easier

Your child will let you know when they are ready to let go of the pacifier. It is a comfort item for babies to suck. The mouth is the pleasure zone for infants. Offer another alternate "comfort item" such as a blankie or special toy. When they are old enough to potty train they usually will stop using a pacifier all on their own. With plenty of love and attention your baby will be just fine. (mother of 2 children)

I assume you are referring to a pacifier...my pediatician recommends by the age of two. Depends on you and the baby. Also, don't use until bed time. There is nothing worse than a child walking around with one in their mouth all day.

I Would say when the baby is ready he/she will let you know....by chowing it up. If you take it away too early then he/she will become addicted to either suck thogh or suck finger.

i took my daughters away when she started wanting it all the time, and when she got her first teeth, so she couldn't chew a piece off and choke. the transition wasn't so bad, a few days of being miserable, but then she forgot all about it.

good luck to you

I think the pacifier should go right along with the bottle at one year.

When the child is ready. Be careful though that one doesn't become dependent of it.

I think you should try to break them of it before a year old.
