has off late become a nightmare. i moved her to the bath tub recently cause the baby tub is no more feasible as likes to jump around. I also get into the bath tub along with her so that i can supervise. all she wants to do is stand all the while and refuses to sit at all. normal baths are still ok and i get them done. hairwashes are the ones that are causing me panic cause she refuses to look up while i wash the shampoo off and right when im washing off the shampoo she looks down and invariably the water runs down her face they get into her eyes and she drinks the water while it runs down her and the whole situation becomes uncomfortable for her as well as me. im kinda freaking at giving the two hairwashes in a week. pls suggest how at all u guys got it done and any tips..

My son who is now 14 months went through the standing phase in the bath tub too around that age. It wasn't until his year birthday that he decided to sit in the tub again. When I switched him from the infant tub I got an inflatable tub to put inside the big tub. I think that this has helped him transition and is more safe esp if they topple over when standing. My son now loves the bathtub and we have a hard time getting him out. Drinking the water is another common thing. He still does it and it's just one of those things. We provide plenty of toys for him to play with...keep it all different for each bath. We recently got him the washable crayons to use in the tub. He loves them! You mention you are worried about the soap getting into her eyes...are you using baby shampoo/wash? That won't hurt their eyes. Instead of dumping water on my son's head to rinse we simply use a wash cloth. Although we are at an advantage because he doesnt have much hair...so theres not alot to rub off.

Ha! My daughter does the same thing standing the whole time. I often wonder why we bother filling up the tub when she could stand in a bucket. If the shampoo and water run down her face and into her mouth, then so be it. Use tears free shampoo so it doesn't hurt her eyes and drinking a little bit of the bathwater won't do any damage.

Welcome to motherhood....lol...I have that same problem with my 13mt old and my two year old. The solution i've found that really helps is i place a lot of tub toys in with them and i bought a shampoo cup from walmart that contours to the forhead of the child and it keeps the water and soap from running down the face. I paid 3.00 for it and it was well worth it. Hope this advice helps some. Goodluck at bathtime

wash her body first and play in the water wit her to relax her and show her a good time splash water on her tummy and things like that then wet her hair and shampoo it and leave it in for a minute and play with her again to get her relaxed then anons to her was the shampoo out of the back of her head first if she get uncomfortable play with her again the front of the head is the hardest but try to do it fast and it shouldn't be that bad.

Good luck

sounds like the baby is just having fun in the bath...she doesn't find it to be the chore that you do.

I use a wash cloth over the face when I rinse hair, to avoid water in the eye. the soapy water is safe, as long as you are using baby shampoo..as that's what it's made to be.

Have you considered a detachable shower head? They work wonders for children

don't worry - she's getting clean just playing in there.

I have this same problem. I had to just poor it over her head. Evenutally she learned how to spit the water out. (like raspberries) I still have to just dump it over her head.
