A close friend of mine told me he's a father to be. Shortly after, he asked me to become the child's godfather which I honorably accepted. Recently he told me that he has no immediate plans of marrying the future mother of his child which makes me not want to become the child's legal god father if that's case. I barely have any relationship with the woman. I've accepted off the strength of a 15+ year friendship. Can I become a god father of a child born out of wedlock? Should I?

Isnt the roll of God parent to help guide & nurture the child. To support the parents and look for the wellbeing of the child both physically & spiritually?

If they are not following Gods ways could you not as God father help introduce the child to those teachings?

By the way I have 3 children out of wedlock, just because you dont adhere doesnt mean you dont believe
