First, you don't want any bottles that have BPA in them. BPA mimics hormones and has been linked to all sorts of conditions such as diabetes. Make sure you get BPA-free bottles.

Here's a website that lists all BPA-free bottles:

Second, I really loved the Playtex Drop Ins. Very easy to use, never caused gas, plus they are more like the breast (I did a mix of breastfeeding and pumping/bottle feeding).

Everybody has their own opion on baby bottles, but I used the Playtex Liner ones & I loved them, I hate washing bottles, so that made it easy, and when I was out and she needed a new bottle but there was no place for me to rinse her bottle out I didn't have to I would just put in a new liner, and I don't know about colic, I was lucky and my baby was not colic at all. And my baby did great with them. But they do leak some, drove me crazy but for me it was all about not cleaning bottles, I know lazy, but when your husband works 12 hours a day the less housework the best for me. Sorry I couldn't help to much, but good luck!!

OK I went through bottles soooooo insanely that I can give you some decent heads up.

We LOVED our vented bottles. Sassy Mam and Playtex Ventaire were our favorites. They made her spit up less, they are well made and hold up, and both are just great. The only drawbacks were that there were extra peieces with the bottoms being vented, so it took an extra few moments to clean them, and you need to have 'storage' bottles when out and when heating liquids. Youcan't mix powder in the vented bottles, you need to mix it in a storage bottle (evenflo classic bottles, 3 bucks for a pack and they have discs that turn bottles into storage) and pour it into the vented. I know it sounds like a pain, but it's soooo worth it! Sassy Mam bottles are much better with leaks since the bottom vent snaps into place... no worries.

Avent was good, but they leaked a crap ton unless you put the top on perfectly. Also the old ones have BPA. I've heard since they have changed their bottles- BPA free now, but i've heard they leak even more. Easy to clean, though.

Evenflo classics- as bottles, they are pretty darn good for the price. Extremely basic, but to be honest, i would have kept using them if i didnt get the vented ones as shower gifts. the price is amazing for the quality, and the replacements are cheap!

Even flo comfi- pain in the ***! daughter wouldn't drink from them, they bubble when you try to sterilize them. I wasn't happy!

parents choice- terrible! But we used these as those storage bottles for the ventairs because they are actually sturdier and leaked less often than the even flo

Dr. Brown- waste of money. not a bad bottle, but you can get just as good for much cheaper.

Nuby- this bottle would be great if it wasnt for the nipple design. I used the bottles for aw hile with the even flo nipples and they were fantastic, too. the ring is designed really well so it doesn't leak and helps with gas. plus i love the colors and they are just really cute, bpa free options. i wish the nipples worked easier because they have teething nubs of them, which would have been awesome if the damn milk would come out of them!

Playtex drop ins- what a pain. they were ok bottles, but i thought it was such a hassle to push the bag up and keep it up. if she stopped drinking, the bag would inflate unless kept upside down, and then i had to stick my hands up the bottle to try to get the air out all over again. i just thought they were too much of a pain to deal with. yes, even more so than the vented bottles.

Medela- decent. nothing spectacular except i liked the caps for storing breastmilk.

We went through multiple bottles with our son who had really bad reflux and the only ones we found to work for him are the Dr. Browns. They aren't HARD to clean, they just take a little extra time to clean because there are a few 'extra' parts, but they really did help minimize the constant spit-up from our son.

I liked a lot of bottles but my daughter REFUSED to use them all, except NUK bottles with latex teats (apparently the hospitals use this..) Latex teats wear out very fast but she also rejects NUK's silicone teats.. *sighz* I think it's more of whether your baby likes it onot..

Luckily, she's able to take to Avent bottles now.. Yay! Silicone teats! haha..

As for the colic, I use Ridwind for her every feed.. It works wonders! Well, all the best to ya!

I told myself I wanted to just use the drop in bottles..well it got to be more hassle than anything..dylan wanted a certain nipple that came in the gift pack and they didn't sell it separately..they are very easy to clean, but we decided to switch to Doc browns, they are a pain to clean but they are very good, our son didnt get colic, he had alot of gas until we started him on solids and we havent had to give him Mylcon since..I would try Dr browns first and go from their..alot of mothers love them!
