I was like you, i could not pick what one I wanted. In the end I went with avent only because it was recommend by everyone. I went to "toys r us" and found that they had a fantastic deal.

steriliser

breast pump

storage cups

bottles

bottle warmer

dummy's

all for £129.99. I can fit all types of bottles in it, Tippees, Avents. even long bottles.

I will attach the the link for you. It will give you a full list what is included.

Edit

Volks: all good and well saying what you said, but not all babies will except breast milk. My son would not suckle, it is a mothers choice if they want to breast feed or not. You will find that formula milk does the job (maybe not as well as breast milk) but still gives what the baby needs.

I have the Tommy Tippee steriliser which came complete with 3 bottles. I also bought the Tommy Tippee breast pump which comes with a small bottle. Breastfeeding didn't work for us so we switched to formula early on, and the steriliser and bottles worked fine for this.

My son had colic so we tried a few different bottles and never found any that didn't fit into the steriliser. As someone else said, you can use it in the microwave but also for cold water sterilising if you need to. I would highly recommend it. We got ours from Asda but I can't remember how much it cost.

I had the tommee Tippee Electric Steam Steriliser for the first 3 months and it was constantly on the go. It then broke down and I had to use the old fashioned bowl and Milton tablets. This (in my opinion) is by far the easiest way to sterilise and does not use any power, the tablet lasts for 24 hours and items are ready to use after 15min in the solution and you don't have to rinse it off like some shops own brand tablets. When i was pregnant, like you I wanted to know what was best for breast feeding and then formula feeding, i was worried about the residue from the tablets harming my baby, but I can safely say I was worrying about nothing and wish I had bought used the tablets from the begining.

Good luck with your pregnancy and whatever you choose, enjoy your wee one while they are small, cos they grow soooooo fast - its unbelievable!!!!

I would say Avent is the one I prefer then Tomme Tippee.

Also I prefer the electric sterilser but then is just my own personal preference microwave onces work just as well and are that little bit cheaper which always helps :). Electric ones tend to be able to hold more bottles though.

I bought my Avent Electric Steriliser from Tesco's for around £28 it had tongs, bottle brush, different teats, a toddler cup and soothers. The only thing is it only came with 1 x 125ml bottle and 1 x 260 ml bottle so I had to buy more of them but you don't need to get avent one's boots own brand are just as good or tomme tippee.

Babies r us was doing a massive saving on tomme tippee sterilising stuff the last time I was in but saying that that was over a month ago but check out the website anyway :)

www.kiddicare.com is also good for baby stuff at a cheaper price I got some wee bargains of there for my daughter.

If by breastfeeding kit you mean a pump personally I wouldn't bother! Manual pumps take for ages to get a reasonable amount of milk out and can bloody hurt it is easier and quciker just to breastfeed but if you want her to have breast milk but you don't feel comfortable feeding her yourself (and there is nothing wrong with that btw some people just don't feel comfortable with that you need to do what is best for you and baby, don't feel pressures into doing it if you don't want people should mine their on business she is you baby and no doubt you will do best by her however you choose to fed her!) I would recommend a electric pump but they are also expensive though ranging from £50-£80. If you just meant breast pads etc they are not expensive anyway just a couple of quid.

Best places to look though are

Local Supermarkets Tesco's or Asda's

Babies R us

Boots

www.kiddicare.com

Good Luck :)

Hi, I have the Avent electric steam steriliser and I love it.

I also have the Avent bottle warmer which is fantastic.

I would defiantly recommend them. I couldn't be without it.

I got mine from babiesrus. I think it was around £38.00. It came with the sterilising unit, two bottles, a bottle brush and two dummies.

I got the bottle warmer from Asda as it was cheaper. Can't remember the price though sorry.

Go to babiesrus.co.uk and you will see it on there. They have the breast feeding set too, so that would probably be the one for you. It comes with a breast pump plus bottles etc.

Take a look.

I would have sent you some links, but I use a mac, so it doesn't work. Sorry!!

Also my friend uses Tommee Tippee, but she says mine is better!!

Good Luck and Congrats :)

Whether it's going to be used for sterilising bottles for breast milk or for formula, I picked the Tommee Tippee cold water Microwave steriliser.

It just means that we will be able to sterilise things quicker and easier than having to boil the water first. There are two of them after all so it's gonna be hard work! Ha!

We got it cheaper in the Asda baby week but Tesco are doing one soon so maybe they have one near you that does it? And Boots are doing one at the moment too , check them out online and see how much they are.

I got everything in the Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature range. It can be used for cold water sterlising and in the microwave and it can be used for breastfeeding and formula feeding.

You can get the whole set of bottles and everything for £99 but i bought everything individually and it came to around £50, that included bottles, breastpump and steriliser.

I know this isn't answering your question, but I had an Avent Steam Steriliser and just found it so annoying. In the end we just bought a big plastic container and some milton tablets.

You simply fill the container full of water, put a tablet in, put all your bottles, teats, dummies etc in it and wait 15 minutes until they are sterile and good to go. The water is sterile for 24 hours. Also there is no need for boiling water, so you never burn yourself.

Honestly, this method has been a god send, if a dummy falls on the floor- straight in the container and then it's good to go in 15 minutes!

That's just my way though, other Mums may not agree with me :-)

I started off with Advent bottles and electric steraliser but had to go and buy Dr Browns because the Advent caused terrible colic I also tried my SIL Tommy Tippie in the meantime and had the same problem. The Dr Brown bottles are expencive but you can buy them off ebay cheaper and they do fit into the Advent steraliser and we went from my son being on tree different colic and reflux medications from the doctor to none in 2 weeks and they have become the best buy I ever made. Also bear in mind that with some of the things you buy you will be able to sell on if they are in good condition, but I cant recommend the Dr Brown bottles enough.

My avent steam steriliser has lasted me with both my children. I think the steam ones are best and most convenient. I used avent breast pump first time round and tommie tippie with my second baby and they were both as good as each other. I had the manual pump ones because I heard that the electric pumps, although they are good, are not that much better to justify the difference in cost to the manual ones.

we have brought the tommie tippie set admitedly not for combining breast and bottle but it is ment to be very good for this i have used the steriliser a few times to get used to in and it is so simpe to use (we have the electric one) you just put a little water in the bottom (there is a dotted line on the bottles so you know how much) press the button and off it goes and it only takes about 5 mins.

good luck

i have the tommee tippee steam steriliser and the bottles i think its called 'closer to nature' anyway i got them and the bottles i find the steriliser quick and easy to use/clean and its not too pricey.

also don't worry about the breastfeeding police!! as long as you and baby are happy and healthy just do whatever works best for you both! (but good luck with it, its an amazing thing to do for your child)

What I found that works best is the bags that you can put in the microwave. A few different companies make them and they work great. Medela, Avent and others. They're cheap and convenient. 2 minutes in the microwave and you're done. I used mine for pump parts as well as bottle nipples and pacifiers.

We bought the TT steam sterilizer and its fab does what we want and didnt cost to much. Its quick and easy.

Most of the time in Mothercare they have an offer on, where if you buy the sterilizer you got a load of bottles and bottle brush free.

but shop around.

my personal opinion - they are a waste of money and space. all you need to do is boil a large pot of water and throw the bottles, nipples in there for like 3minutes. After that, they can be washed by hand or the top rack of the dishwasher.

"just as good just in case I realise its not for me"

When you have a baby, it's not about you anymore, it's about the baby. Breastfeeding is what's best for them, it protects them from all sorts of illnesses and diseases, so how would it be "not for me"?

As for sterilizing sets, ask your pediatrician what he/she recommends. Most pediatricians don't recommend sterilizing except before the first use, unless you live somewhere where the water is not safe.
